Kim Merry
Kim
Merry has over 20 years experience of working as a Speech & Language
Therapist with children and adults with special needs.
She has worked in a variety of settings including; schools, nurseries,
colleges, care homes, adult training centres and clinics. However, like
many professionals working in this area, she has despaired at the lack
of availability of ready-made resources that are suitable for both children
and adults with a severe language impairment.
Kim's passion has always been to empower students to ask questions
using signs and symbols, not just be the people who answer them. Therefore,
it was a natural progression to write a series of books, which not only
expanded the student's sentence length and vocabulary, but also featured
a key question per book.
The lotto games and dominos in "Fun with Phonology" also
came from the hours of working with both severely phonologically delayed
and dyspraxic students of all ages. She devised games that would be
fun, colourful and of a good quality, so that students, parents, carers,
teachers and nursery staff would want to play them.
